The first victory for the new continental Minerva Cycling Team is a fact.

Their rider Thomas Joseph took the victory in a sprint with seven escapees. With a field of 125 riders, it was no easy task to beat the competition. Fairly quickly in the race a front group of fourteen riders formed, which included Thomas Joseph. The peloton followed soon at one minute but still four strong riders managed to join the leading group so they went into the final with eighteen riders. Thomas Joseph judged the danger of his strongest competitors in the final sprint and thinned out the leading group to about seven riders with a dazzling attack.

At the start of the last straight line one more rider escaped and Thomas took advantage of the welcome lead out to take the first win of the season for himself and the Minerva Cycling Team with his razor sharp final sprint.
